Since 2005, the University Eye Hospital of Tübingen and the Eye Clinic of the College of Medicine (COM) of the University of Malawi in Blantyre have been in partnership. It serves the training of ophthalmologists.
It was founded on the initiative of Dr. Markus Schulze Schwering on the German side and Dr. Henry Nkume Batumba on the Malawian side.
Dr.Schulze Schwering and the team of the University Eye Hospital Tübingen are responsible for the partnership.
Four specialists have been trained in this project since 2005, five more are in training.
